Hong Kong & Macao

Hong Kong Island

Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong

Two ways of filtering photos of Tolo Harbour (Tai Po Hoi). Tai Po was one of my two daytrips from Kowloon.

My other New Territories daytrip from Kowloon was Fan Ling. There I visited a large Daoist temple (Fung Ying Seen Koon) and walled villages. At the walled villages, I had in mind Jan Morris’s claim in Hong Kong that Chinese culture in the New Territories had most likely changed less during the 20th century than it did anywhere else.

Macao Peninsula

I encountered a small number of local Portuguese (and rather more Portuguese or Brazilian tourists). The local Portuguese spoke Portuguese with each other, but English with their Chinese employees and everyone else.
