North Esk River area, between Launceston and Upper Blessington

Launceston

Cataract Gorge Reserve is a park west of central Launceston. I walked along the west side of the gorge which surrounds the South Esk River, then hiked past a congregation of Bennett’s wallabies, pademelons, and peafowl to the Eagle’s Eyrie lookout.

Mt Roland area, Kentish Council

West Coast

Near the Que River, which became heavily polluted by copper mining. I wonder if the river’s pollution has anything to do with the unusual color this rust has taken.

Ocean Beach and Henty Dunes Lookout

Between Hobart and Maydena

Sheep in the vineyard.

Southwest Wilderness

This day driving west along Gordon River Road (B61) had the best combination of sunlight and scenery I’ve ever seen without hiking. The region is so lush because it rains a lot, like the West Coast of New Zealand.

The Wedge and Sentinel Range. I very much want to return and hike to Pt 974 in Sentinel Range.

Pedder Dam

At the end of the road I was driving along in the previous section.
